Past Life or MSU?

Past Life or MSU
by Janis KC Jarvis

MSU stands for make stuff up. Sometimes human beings cannot tell if they have remembered a Past Life or if they are just making it up. Once in a while, clients will come out of a past life regression and report that they think they just made it up. Even if while they were in trance, they expressed no doubt but reported the memories in great detail and with an element of surprise. I feel that this notion while it may shock your hypnotist the first few times it happens, is a legitimate response and is still “grist for the mill”.

Consider this: Many human beings do not enjoy certain parts of life and do not relish the idea of say being a helpless baby again, or watching a loved one die again, or even getting uncomfortable or experiencing physical pain of some kind again. Life is not always fun—even here on Earth, the wonderful, beautiful planet of free will! We still have struggles, normal ups and downs and then some. So, when we say past life memories are just MSU or not real, consider that we might be in denial. It is easy for us to slip into the “river” (get it? De-Nile) if we don't want to have to go through all the downs, normal and otherwise, that another life will surely bring us. So, we say, that wasn't real, I just MSUed all that. Now we do not have to believe in past lives and we are pretty sure we will not have to go through the discomforts of living again. Once is enough, thank you!

Or, maybe we did not relax enough, resisted hypnosis, and we did just MSU. Even so, we brought forth material from the subconscious that may need to be worked through and released. So, the event can be used for healing, it just was not convincing enough for us to believe it was a past life. And that is ok. We can still work with it.

One of my mentors, Dr. Rudy Bauer, told me that if you are not sure about something and you have several options, to choose the one that is of the most benefit for you. That seems obvious, doesn't it? But, how many times do we choose the worst option for whatever reason? Sometimes we like to prepare for the worst, or even worry, and then it turns out to be all make believe and we just wasted all that time and energy. Well, in this case, if you are not sure whether you have had a real past life memory or just MSUed, choose the option that works the best for you.

The truth is that the more frequently you do past life regressions, or hypnosis of any kind, you will notice that the trance level and overall feeling of connection to the subconscious where the memories are stored, differs from time to time and even during the session. So it could be that we MSU part of it and we remember some of it for certain. Just like we do when we try to remember stuff that happened during this life, in recent weeks, months, or years.
