Did You Know Smoking Harms Your Teeth?

I went to the dentist yesterday and noticed that one of the routine questions on their intake form was "Do You Smoke?", which has a follow-up question "If yes, do you wish to quit?".  I talked to the dentist about this and it turns out that they are concerned about this because smoking harms the teeth and causes bone loss!!  I must confess, I did not know this.  So, I told her I could help her patients quit smoking and also have less fear and stress about undergoing dental treatment.

Effectiveness of Hypnosis

There are over 200 known uses for hypnosis. 

A survey of psychotherapy literature by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. revealed the following recovery rates:
  • Pschoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
  • Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions

Can Hypnosis Improve Performance in Sports

Did you watch the Beach Volleyball match last night and happen to hear how Misty May-Treanor and Karrie Walsh-Jennings prepared for their match? Sports Hypnosis! Yes indeed. Using fairly simple suggestions that the announcer shared with the public like "You are prepared for these matches" "You have everything you need inside you to win these matches"
Now of course we know that Misty and Karrie are the best in their sport and have prepared in many other ways as well. So, why do they still incorporate hypnosis in their training, right before an Olympic match?

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Whatever you do in life can be enhanced by hypnosis.  If people knew the awesome power of their subconscious mind, its ability to effect positive change without any conscious effort on their part, they would truly be amazed.
Every problem has a cause, when you eliminate the cause from the computer we call the subconscious mind, the problem disappears.
Phobias, such as fear of water, flying, dentistry, and enclosed space are frequently corrected in two or three sessions.  We simply locate the cause, change the person's perception of the events and the fear usually disappears.

Happy Valentines Day

Valentines Day. Again. Sigh! Rejoice! Celebrate!
A commentator recently said that Valentines Day can bring up many thoughts about relationships.  It may open doors for new relationships or take on-going relationships to new levels, or even close doors on old worn out relationships that are no longer serving us.  Maybe you are seeking the love of your life and Valentines Day is a sad reminder of the void that is in your life.  Whatever your take on love, I am wishing you the best on this day.


Why do we let resistance keep us from doing what we know in our hearts we truly desire?  Today a client delayed her success.  It sounds like things just were not going her way today.  But when I gave her a chance to reschedule for tomorrow or next week, she chose next week.  I truly hope doomsday is not tomorrow or she will have missed her chance to live a delightful smoke free life at least for a day; to once again taste her food and smell the Spring fragrances; to live without the shame of not being able to kick the habit.

The Holiday Season

The Holiday Season is upon us and much of our Nation is snow covered or experiencing below freezing weather.  The lights are twinkling, the trees are wearing strange new artificial foliage, and Hopes and Spirits are soaring.  I find my thoughts are turning to the New Year.  I find that I feel capable of making things happen even more during this time of year.  I am now enjoying the Peace of the Season and I hope that you are too.  If not, if it is all a bit of a challenge for you and you would like to release some of that stress; as Milton Erickson said "Trust your unconscious", cease the "stress rehearsal" (Allen Chips), and enjoy the moment. By the way, did I mention that Hypnosis is excellent for calming anxiety and restoring your ability to sleep.  You do sleep, don't you?  If not, set up an appointment with me and I will help you.
