Why do we let resistance keep us from doing what we know in our hearts we truly desire? Today a client delayed her success. It sounds like things just were not going her way today. But when I gave her a chance to reschedule for tomorrow or next week, she chose next week. I truly hope doomsday is not tomorrow or she will have missed her chance to live a delightful smoke free life at least for a day; to once again taste her food and smell the Spring fragrances; to live without the shame of not being able to kick the habit. I could go on and on; but suffice it to say that resistance got in the way. Actually, I know the hypnosis will be more effective if she is truly ready and comes to see me when she has overcome resistance. If you wish to change, you have a better chance of being successful if you recognize the resistance, understand that it is just a part of what soon will be history, and choose the path that you genuinely prefer. For today's client, I hope it will be to become smoke-free; I am honored by the joy that clients feel when they come out of a hypnotic trance and they are just beaming because they know that now they are in control and that, if they chose, they can breath freely from now on, or whatever their goal. It's a wonderful feeling and I am grateful to be a part of that transformation. Just kidding about doomsday. But, on the other hand, what if tomorrow is the end of life as we know it. How will you spend the last few hours? |
